I have been half heartedly checking log piles for roosting Nightjars for a couple of summers now with no luck, and then this morning, bingo! I couldn't believe my eyes!

I managed to get some shots, although the light was poor, but I am hoping the bird will roost on the same spot over the next couple of weeks when the sun is shining. Keep an eye on the Nightjar gallery for any updates. (Updated 6th June!!!)

If you want to photograph Nightjars, please stick to public footpaths and use caution to avoid flushing the birds and disturbing breeding activity.
